Slate is repaired, not patched; tile cracks under foot traffic from anyone who doesn’t know how to walk it; copper needs the right fasteners or it corrodes at every contact point.

The expensive mistake in Buckhead is hiring a shingle crew for a slate roof. We will tell you honestly if a job is outside what we should be doing, which is not something every contractor knocking on doors here will say.

Scale changes the arithmetic

These are large, steep, complex roofs — multiple wings, dormers, chimneys, turrets in places. More square footage, more flashing detail, more staging, and genuinely more risk for the crew. A quote that looks suspiciously like a 2,000 square foot ranch quote is a quote from someone who hasn’t measured.

Steep pitch also means a roof that is highly visible from the street, so the quality of the ridge line, the hip detail, and the colour match all show. Work that would pass unnoticed on a low-pitch ranch does not pass here.
